Christos Sarakatsianos was born in Ioannina in 1937. He was an apprentice to painter and icon painter G. Kazakos and to P. Sarafianos before studying sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Apartis’ art workshop and painting under Moralis. He also studied stage design and decoration on a scholarship granted by the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.).
Then he travelled to Europe (1967 -1975) and, following his return, he was among the founding members of the Copperplate Engraving Group (Ομάδα Χαλκογραφίας) and a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece. His paintings and engravings were presented in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. A retrospective exhibition of paintings by the Epirote artist was hosted at the Απόλλων Multi-purpose Art Hall by the Prefecture of Piraeus. He was also an editor of several publications.
