Androgeios Alexandridis, son of painter Antonios Alexandridis and uncle of Alekos Alexandridis, was born in 1886 in Heraklion, Crete. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts from where he graduated in 1911. Following his return to Crete, he was appointed teacher of arts and crafts at a primary school in Chania (1917 – 1920) before teaching at the Pedagogical Academy of Heraklion and at the Boys’ High School of Heraklion until his death.
In 1935 he founded a Housekeeping School with the help of his wife Koula Stamathioudaki. He published books and art brochures which were used for educational purposes in schools. He also produced relief maps of Crete, Greece and the 4 Continents, for which he was awarded a gold medal and which, following the approval by the Ministry of Education, were also used in schools and were featured in public buildings and banks. He died in 1968 in Heraklion, leaving a legacy of numerous students.
