Engraver, painter and graphic designer Maria Farmakidou was born in Larissa in 1949. She studied engraving under K. Grammatopoulos (1968 – 1972) and book art (1972 – 1973) at the Athens School of Fine Arts.

She has published studies on art and she has taught at the Centre for Technological Applications, in secondary education and the Department of Primary Education of the University of Patras. She worked as artistic editor for magazines (Γυναίκα, Γονείς, 1973 – 1976) and books.

She has presented her works in solo and group exhibitions mainly in Patras and Athens. She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and, since 1992, a member of the Special Teaching Staff of the Department of Primary Education of the University of Patras.
