Marika Magni was the daughter of the well-known icon painter of Heraklion, Georgios Nikolaidis. She was born in 1918 in Heraklion, Crete and studied pedagogy and English literature while a painting apprentice to her father.

She presented her works at the Parnassos Literary Society in 1962, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1973, 1975, 1976 and 1977 and in Heraklion (Knossos Hall) in 1966, 1970 and 1972.
