Skylakos Vassilis

Vassilis Skylakos was born in Kiato, Corinth in 1930. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome (1957 – 1960). He then settled in Denmark for two years and in France before returning to Greece in 1964.

He first presented his works in 1957 at Parnassos Literary Society and then at a gallery in Copenhagen in 1960 and in 1964. He started working with assemblages in the 1970s and presented his work in solo exhibitions held in Athens (Desmos art gallery) in 1972, 1973, 1976, 1979, 1981, 1984, 1990, and 1992 as well as in other cities of Greece and abroad. He took part in several group exhibitions and international events, including the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture in Paris (1976), the Europalia in Brussels (1982), the Alexandria Biennale (1988), the Sao Paulo Biennale (1994), the ArtAthina (1993, 1994, 1995) etc.

Vassilis Skylakos, a revolutionary artist, died in Kiato, Corinth in 2000. He was a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece.
