Tsalamata Viki
Viki Tsalamata was born in Athens in 1948. She studied graphic arts at the Athens Technological Organisation (1966 – 1969), painting, engraving and mosaic at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna (1969 – 1973) and Art History at the Universita per Stranieri in Perugia. When she finished her studies in Italy, she returned to Greece and opened an engraving workshop.
She pursued postgraduate studies at the Slade School of Fine Arts in London (1982 – 1983) and Paper Art at the London College of Printing. Her works have been presented in many solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and she has taken part in group exhibitions and international events such as the Engraving Biennales and Triennials of Ljubljana (1987), Heidelberg (1988), Varna (1989), Alexandria (1993), Belgrade (1994), N. Delhi (1994), etc.
She was presented with an award at the Artitudes Exhibition in 1989 in New York and with an honourable mention for her participation in the Alexandria Biennale in 1994. Viki Tsalamata has also worked as a book illustrator and curator of exhibitions. In 2004 she was elected Assistant Professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts where she teaches Engraving. She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and the Greek Printmakers’ Association.
