Vidali Leoni
Engraver Leoni Vidali was born in Athens in 1945. She studied engraving, typography and book art at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1975 – 1980) under K. Grammatopoulos and G. Papadakis. She received a lithography award and then continued her studies in painting under D. Kokkinidis. In 1986 and 1989 she attended painting classes at the Royal College of Art in London. She has also edited books and catalogues, illustrated books and published texts on engraving and book art.
Since 1984 she has been teaching at the Athens School of Fine Arts. As Head of the Typography and Book Art workshop, she upgraded it to Graphic Arts, Typography and Book Art workshop. She has presented her work in group engraving exhibitions, both in Greece and abroad, including the exhibition Norske Grafikere in Oslo (1989), the exhibition Grafika Norvegica in Stavanger (1989), the exhibition Contemporary Greek Graphic Art held at the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (1992), etc. In 2013, the Greek Graphic Designers’ Association (GGDA) presented her with the “GREEK GRAPHIC DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION AWARD” for her overall contribution and she became an honorary member of the Association. She is also a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and the Greek Printmakers’ Association.
