The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Athens warmly invites you to a Grand Opening of the Art Exhibition of graphics and paintings by Katarina Vasickova at the Heraklion Municipal Art Gallery on June 16th, 2025.

The evening will be a true cultural experience, including artworks from the collections of Albín Brunovský, presented on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birth, featuring an exquisite piano concert of well-known Slovak and Greek composers performed by piano artist Mélisande Sinsoulier, a carefully curated wine tasting of Slovak wines, and a variety of traditional Slovak specialties.

About the Artists:

Katarina Vasickova

Slovak artist living and creating in Athens, expresses a powerful fusion of geometric abstraction, natural forms, and feminine energy through her distinctive visual language. With over 20 years of international recognition, her work draws on the refined traditions of Ex-Libris and printmaking, brought to life through a contemporary lens and a uniquely personal style.

Albin Brunovský

Albín Brunovský (1935–1991), a towering figure in Slovak postwar art, is renowned for his masterful technique and imaginative worlds that blend surrealism, symbolism, and poetic visual storytelling. Marking the 90th anniversary of his birth, we celebrate his legacy through artworks that continue to captivate with their enigmatic characters, fantastical landscapes and richly layered metaphors.

Mélisande Sinsoulier

Mélisande Sinsoulier is a dynamic and versatile piano artist, acclaimed for her performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist across Canada and Europe. Her expressive style and deep musicality reflect a rich international career and a strong commitment to artistic excellence.
