Tryfon Kormpis was born in 1948 in Pagrati of Kalavrita. He pursued independent studies in Graphic Arts and then studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts under G. Mavroidis and P. Tetsis.

He also attended classes in ceramics and sculpture in the workshops of the Athens School of Fine Arts (he graduated in 1978). He has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions, mainly in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Crete. He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece.
