Dimitreas Vangelis

Vangelis Dimitreas was born in 1934 in Melissi, Corinth. He studied painting and engraving at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1958 – 1963) in the workshop of Yiannis Moralis. From 1967 to 1975 he worked in Paris. Following his return to Greece, he taught at the Centre for Technological Applications (K.T.E.), at the Vakalo School and later at the Athens School of Fine Arts. In 1984 he was elected professor at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

He has also published articles on art and has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions, both in Greece and abroad. He has taken part in Pan-Hellenic exhibitions (1965, 1967, 1987) and in international events, including the Paris Biennale (1970, 1972), the Sao Paulo Biennale (1984), Europalia Brussels (1982), etc. He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and of SKEVE, he was also a member of the Centre for Technological Applications (K.T.E.) and the “Art Group 4+”.
