Kyriaki Vasso

Vasso Kyriaki was born in Piraeus in 1937. She studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1958 – 1963) under A. Georgiadis and Yiannis Moralis. She presented her work (painting and constructions made of various materials) in solo exhibitions (her first solo exhibition was held in 1964 at the Centre for Technological Applications in Athens) and group exhibitions, in Greece and abroad. She has also taken part, among others, in the international painting festival in Cagnes-sur-Mer (France, 1981) and the Sao Paulo Biennale (1985), etc.

Retrospective exhibitions of her work took place in 2006 at the Athens Municipal Art Gallery and in 2011 at the Larissa Municipal (Katsigras Museum). She taught at the Athens School of Fine Arts as an expert scientist (1985 – 1990), at the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens as an associate professor (1990 – 2004), and at various art workshops.

She was among the founding members of the art group “Group of 6” (1969, alongside Valavanidis, Dimitreas, Karavelas, Milios and Sorogas) of the Centre for Visual Arts, of the Group 4+ (together with Dimitreas, Kokkinou and Stasinopoulos) and the Group for Communication and Education in Art. She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece.
