Mapleton Georgiana
Georgiana E. Mapleton – Madanian (wife of Azarias Madanian) was born in 1952 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. In 1968 she attended oil painting courses (1968 – 1969, independent courses and then at the Reading Art Studio in Boston) and also freehand drawing courses (1970, deCordova Museum). In 1980 – 1981 she studied engraving and graphic design at the New England School of Art and Design, Etchings and Graphics (University of Suffolk).
Later, in 2005, she attended courses in painting on silk (batik technique) at the Renate Artist Studio, and then, in 2009, in Indian miniature painting at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. She also studied jewellery and floristry (2007 – 2008 City Guild Certificate in Floristry, 2008 beaded jewellery).
She has presented her works (paintings and engravings) in solo and group exhibitions in Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Kastoria and Crete), in England (Wandsworth open studios, Putney school of art, Roman Catholic Church Brompton) and in the U.S.A. (ASA Boston Vision, Braintree Library Art exhibition, Boston) and was awarded the first prize for her participation in the Reading Art Association Group Exhibition in Boston.
