Papadoperakis Thomas

Thomas Papadoperakis was born in Spilia, Heraklion in 1943. He took his first painting lessons under icon painter S. Kartakis (1956 – 1960). He studied painting under G. Mavroidis, engraving under K. Grammatopoulos and stage design under V. Vassiliadis at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1961 – 1966) on a scholarship. He continued his studies in Paris at the École des Beaux-arts (1970 – 1975) under G. Singier and graduated with honours.

He presented his work in Pan-Hellenic exhibitions (1969, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1987) and in Pan-Cretan exhibitions (1972, 1974, 1976). He also took part in group exhibitions held at the National Gallery – Alexandros Soutsos Museum (1976, 1983), in major tributes to Contemporary Greek painting and engraving (Nicosia 1978, Ireland 1979) and in major international events such as the Directart Jonction in Cannes (1995 – awarded) and the ArtAthina (1996), etc.
