APERGIS ANTONIS

Painter and engraver Antonis Apergis was born in Athens in 1938. He studied painting under Moralis and engraving under Grammatopoulos at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1958 – 1962) on a scholarship granted by the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.). After being granted a second scholarship by the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.), he continued his studies in mosaic and fresco at the Paris School of Fine Arts (1966 – 1970).

His paintings and engravings were presented in several solo exhibitions in Athens and Thessaloniki and in group exhibitions held in various cities in Greece and abroad (Rome, Beirut, Paris and Chicago). He taught painting for several years at schools of Graphic Arts and at the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art, Technological Education Institute of Athens. He also created theatre sets and as an illustrator he worked with books and magazines. Antonis Apergis died in Athens in 2018.
