Ilias Charisis was born in Mouzaki, prefecture of Karditsa in 1945. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1977 – 1982) under D. Mytaras, Y. Moralis and D. Kokkinidis.

His work (painting and installations) has been presented in solo and group exhibitions and he has participated in international events including the Alexandria Biennale in 1984 (silver medal), the International Exhibition of Mail – Art in Vicenza (1897), the Florence Biennale (1999), etc. He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece.
