KRITSOTAKI ARISTEA

Aristea Kritsotaki is an engraver and stage designer who was born in Heraklion in 1945 and settled in Rome in 1963, where she studied Decoration, Fresco, Architectural Design and Stage Design at the Accademia di Belle Arti (1963 – 1970). From 1970 to 1972 she worked at the Teatro dell ’Opera di Roma as a stage designer. From 1973 to 1985 she was Assistant Professor of Engraving at the Accademia di Belle Arti and in 1986 she was elected Professor.

Aristea Kritsotaki is a distinguished and awarded artist. Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions in Rome, Athens and Heraklion, Crete, and in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and she has taken part in major events including the Triennale Internazionale della Xilografia in Capri (1972), the Alexandria Biennale (1974), the Florence Biennale of Engraving (1974), the Quadriennale in Rome (1977), the Cittadella Biennale (1979), the Triennale Europea dell Incisione in Grado, Italy (1984), the Baden-Baden Engraving Biennale and the Heidelberg Engraving Biennale (1988), the “Antonio Canova” Biennale of Contemporary Art in Crespano del Grappa, the Ljubljana Biennale (1989, 1991), the Varna Biennale (1989, 1991), a Biennale in Norway (1992), the Maastricht Biennale (1993), the Belgrade Biennale (1994) and the Engraving Triennial in Giza, Egypt (1993), etc.
